Drive over Dochula Pass (3,100m) with views of the Eastern Himalayas. Visit the 108 Dochula Chortens. Continue to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of two rivers.
Scenic drive through central Bhutan. Cross Pele La pass (3,420m) and enter the Black Mountains. Arrive at Trongsa and explore Trongsa Dzong — the ancestral seat of the Bhutanese monarchy.
Visit the Tower of Trongsa Museum (Ta Dzong). Drive over Yotong La pass (3,425m) to the Bumthang valley. Afternoon visit to Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's two oldest temples (659 AD).
Full day exploring the four valleys. Visit Kurjey Lhakhang (Guru Rinpoche's body imprint), Tamshing Lhakhang (oldest monastery with original paintings), and the Bumthang Brewery for local beer and apple brandy. Visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse.
