Arrive Lhasa. Transfer to St. Regis. Rest and acclimatize. Welcome dinner.
Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor. Acclimatization day.
Drive over Kamba La pass (4,790m) with stunning views of turquoise Yamdrok Lake. Continue past Karo La glacier to Gyantse. Visit the magnificent Gyantse Kumbum.
Morning at Pelkor Chode Monastery. Drive to Shigatse. Afternoon visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama.
Drive south through the Tibetan Plateau toward Tingri. First views of the Himalayan range including Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Everest on the horizon.
Drive to Rongbuk Valley. Visit Rongbuk Monastery (5,009m), the highest in the world, with Everest's North Face filling the sky. Continue to Everest Base Camp (North) at 5,200m. Time to photograph and absorb the scene.
Wake for sunrise over Everest — the mountain glows gold and pink. Return drive to Shigatse via a different route through the Gama Valley.
Return to Lhasa via the northern route along the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) river. Arrive evening.
Visit Sera Monastery for monk debates, Drepung Monastery, or free for shopping and spa. Farewell dinner.
Private transfer to Lhasa Gonggar Airport.
