Drive to Sundarijal, Trek to Chisopani

Private vehicle from Kathmandu to Sundarijal (45 minutes) at the edge of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Trek uphill through the national park's dense forest, past a water reservoir and army checkpoint. Emerge at Chisopani ('cold water'), a ridge-top settlement with stunning sunrise views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and on clear days, Everest.

Trek to Kutumsang

Trek along the ridge through oak and rhododendron forest. Pass through the Tamang village of Pati Bhanjyang and continue climbing through terraced farmland and forest to Kutumsang, a small settlement on the ridge with panoramic mountain views.

Trek to Tharepati

Continue climbing through increasingly dense and magnificent rhododendron forest — a tunnel of twisted trees covered in moss and orchids. In spring (March-April), the forest blazes with red, pink, and white blooms. Reach Tharepati on the ridge dividing Helambu from the Langtang region. Spectacular sunset views.

Trek to Melamchighyang

Descend steeply from the ridge through forest into the Helambu valley. The trail drops dramatically into the Melamchi Khola valley, entering the heartland of Hyolmo culture. Arrive at Melamchighyang, a beautiful village of traditional stone houses, prayer flags, and a revered monastery.

Trek to Tarkeghyang

Cross the Melamchi Khola and climb to Tarkeghyang, the largest and most important Hyolmo village. Visit the stunning Tarkeghyang Monastery with its ornate interior and sacred artifacts. The village hosts the famous Lhosar (Tibetan New Year) celebrations. Interact with local families.

Trek to Sermathang

Trek to the neighboring Hyolmo village of Sermathang through terraced fields and forest. Visit the Sermathang Monastery. This village offers excellent views of the Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa. Final evening on the trail with a farewell dinner.

Trek to Melamchi Bazaar, Drive to Kathmandu

Descend through farmland and forest to Melamchi Bazaar in the valley below. Private vehicle transfer to Kathmandu (2-3 hours). Afternoon at leisure for shopping or sightseeing.
