Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Paro
Arrive at Paro airport. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon sightseeing at Paro Rinpung Dzong. Trek briefing and gear check.
Drive to Shana, Trek to Thangthanka
Drive to the trailhead at Shana (Drukgyel Dzong). Trek along the Paro Chhu river through blue pine and oak forests to Thangthanka camp.
Trek to Jangothang (Jomolhari BC)
Continue up the valley as Jomolhari's massive north face comes into view. Reach Jangothang, the spectacular base camp beneath the peak.
Acclimatization at Jomolhari BC
Day hike toward Tsho Phu lakes (4,380m) with stunning views of Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. Spot blue sheep on the rocky slopes. Return to camp.
Trek to Lingshi via Nyile La
Cross the Nyile La pass (4,890m) with panoramic views of Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tserim Kang. Descend to Lingshi valley beneath the imposing Lingshi Dzong.
Trek to Shodu via Yeli La
Cross the Yeli La pass (4,820m). Descend through dwarf rhododendron and bamboo forest to the camp at Shodu beside a river.
Trek to Barshong
Trek through dense forest along the river. Pass through narrow gorges and bamboo thickets to reach Barshong near a ruined dzong.
Trek to Dodena
Final trekking day descending through rhododendron and conifer forests. Emerge at Dodena where your vehicle awaits. Drive to Thimphu.
Thimphu Sightseeing
Explore Thimphu: Tashichho Dzong, National Memorial Chorten, and the weekend market. Farewell dinner with traditional Bhutanese entertainment.
Drive to Paro & Departure
Drive to Paro. Optional visit to Kyichu Lhakhang. Transfer to airport.
