Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Kathmandu
Private airport transfer. Expedition briefing, gear check, and permit review with lead climbing guide.
Kathmandu Preparation
Final gear shopping at Thamel climbing shops. Visit to Boudhanath Stupa for puja blessing. Team dinner.
Fly to Lukla, Trek to Paiya
Scenic flight to Lukla. Begin trek south toward Paiya through terraced farmland and Sherpa villages.
Trek to Panggom
Trek through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, crossing several streams. Reach the Rai village of Panggom.
Trek to Ningsow via Zatr La
Steep climb through moss-draped forest to the Zatr La pass (4,610m). Descend into the remote Hinku Valley.
Trek to Kothe
Descend along the Hinku Nadi river through forests of birch and fir. Reach the broad valley floor at Kothe.
Trek to Thaknak
Continue up the Hinku Valley past Gondishung cave. Views of Mera Peak and Kusum Kanguru appear.
Trek to Khare
Cross a rocky section and lateral moraine to reach Khare, the main staging base for Mera Peak.
Acclimatization at Khare
Acclimatization hike and crampon training on nearby glacier. Practice rope techniques for the summit push.
Trek to Mera La
Ascend the rocky moraine and glacier to Mera La pass (5,415m). Spectacular views of the Hinku and Hongu valleys.
Move to High Camp
Climb the Mera Glacier to High Camp on the broad snow plateau. Prepare for summit attempt.
Summit Day
Depart at midnight. Climb the glacier slope to the summit ridge and reach Mera Peak summit (6,476m). 360-degree panorama of Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. Descend to Khare.
Reserve Day
Weather contingency for summit bid. If already summited, rest and celebration at Khare.
Trek to Kothe
Descend the valley retracing steps through Thaknak to Kothe. Relaxed pace through the Hinku Valley.
Trek to Thuli Kharka
Continue north through the forest and climb to Thuli Kharka on the way back to the Zatr La.
Cross Zatr La to Lukla
Cross the Zatr La pass and descend to Chutanga, then continue to Lukla. Team celebration dinner.
Contingency Day in Lukla
Buffer day for weather delays on the Lukla flight. Explore Lukla village or rest.
Fly to Kathmandu & Departure
Morning flight to Kathmandu. Private transfer, shower, farewell lunch, and airport transfer.
